After a long while without new PokéPla releases, February finally brought us the Charizard Evolution Set, to honor the return of Charizard to the Episode N arc of the Best Wishes season. Like most Evolution Sets, it was released for ¥760 at most Japanese retailers and can be purchased at places like AmiAmi, HLJ, or eBay. Like most releases, Charmander and Charmeleon are kinda lame. Thankfully colors are accurate though! Both of them feature stickers for the eyes, tail flame, toe nails, and stomach. Charmeleon in general ends up looking really weird because of the way the hands are stickered, but I have to give them props for accuracy at least. Charizard is really awesome. The blue of the wings, eyes, tail flame, and hands are stickers. The hand stickers are a bit annoying, but the piece is just white plastic, so it can easily be painted. No real problems with him at all. You can move the wings back and forth, as well as the arms. The neck is also on a series of swivels, so you can get a decent range of motion there too. Overall, it’s a really great set and fans of Charizard shouldn’t pass this up. With the D-Arts on the horizon, the need for a set like this is minimal, but for those on a budget, it’s a great fill in for a nice looking Charizard toy. Definitely recommended.
