Review: S.H.Figuarts – Kamen Rider Ichigo (Sakurajima Ver.)
S.H.Figuarts – Kamen Rider Ichigo (Sakurajima Ver.)
Retail Release – January, 2013 – ¥2,800
YES, I’M AWARE I PUT THE EFFECT PART IN BACKWARDS. I THINK IT LOOKS COOL THIS WAY. RIDER STABBING!
The next member of our growing SHF Showa Era collection is none other than Ichigo…again! This time around, Ichigo is in his Sakurajima outfit. This is the outfit used in the show when Ichigo returned to the show after his actor’s injury, but before the introduction of the Shin Ichigo and Shin Nigo suits. It was released in January, 2013 at mass retail for ¥2.800. I really dig this release. It obtaining a retail release spot bugged me, but I think it’s a superior Ichigo if only for the rather awesome color scheme. Sure, it’s kinda bland, but I really like the way it turns out in figure form. Articulation wise he’s got all the same points as Ichigo, making for a highly articulated figure using a mold I really like. The only main difference is the fact that he has a new helmet, with the antennae forming a v shape instead of Shin Ichigo’s straightened antennae. Accessories wise he comes packed with eight hands (same as Nigo’s), two scarf options (same as Ichigo and Nigo), the Shocker Sword/Cane/Whatever (same as Shin Ichigo), and a brand new Rider Punch effect part that I hilariously put on backwards. The effect part is compatible with any SHF as long as it doesn’t have a gauntlet design that would make the part not fit in the space allotted It’s actually a great figure I’m pleasantly surprised to own. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. If you’re an Ichigo fan, I definitely recommend picking it up. If you’re on the fence because you already picked up Shin Ichigo, I still recommend the purchase. If you’re debating about which one, go with your gut on which color choice you like better, as neither one truly outweighs the other. It’s all a matter of preference. Regardless, a really nice figure overall.
