Review: Pokémon – Tomy 4-Figure Gift Packs Series 1

Pokémon – Tomy 4-Figure Gift Packs Series 1
$14.99 at Most Major Retailers (Purchased from Target)

Following a pattern set by Jakks Pacific’s previous endeavors, Tomy decided to release a gift pack of four figures to make your collecting easier. Instead of releasing a four pack of all new characters, it includes a mix of new characters and old characters, making collecting an absolutely difficult task. The main feature of these sets are Kyurem, Black Kyurem, and White Kyurem. These are the same figures as the single packed Legendary Figures. Also included are Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion, who are featured in the “Clip and Carry PokéBall” line. Finally one set includes Scraggy, who is found in the Basic Figure pack with Yamask. New to the collection via these packs are Axew, Crygonal, Emolga, Stunfisk, and Boldore. Despite it making collecting (and reviewing!) difficult, it’s nice to be able to get the Swords of Justice without needing the PokéBall accessory. Included with Kyurem is Terrakion, Emolga, and Stunfisk. Included with Black Kyurem is Cobalion, Scraggy, and Boldore. Included with White Kyurem is Virizion, Axew, and Cryogonal. Despite my complaint about collecting, I love the fact that these exist. It’s great for kids to get a hold of even more Pokémon without having to buy too many individual sets. Plus it adds even more Pokémon to the roster of released figures in hopes of completing an Unova collection. For $14.99 you get a Legendary Figure and three Basic Figures, it’s not really a “deal” but a great alternative to gunning after individual sets. As for the Pokémon inside, I don’t have problems with any of them, and something like Cryogonal is really cool to see this early in the collection. Thanks Tomy!
