New forms, new weapons. Beast’s upgrade form is Kamen Rider Beast Hyper, and with him comes an all new weapon: the Mirage Magnum. The Mirage Magnum was released at the end of March, 2013 for ¥3,800. Included with the Mirage Magnum is the Hyper Wizard Ring, which when used with the Beast Driver, allows Beast to turn into Beast Hyper. When you pull up on the Ring to open the Lion’s mouth, you can insert it into the Ring Slot on the Mirage Magnum to initiate the Magnum Strike attack. The Mirage Magnum is a small blue and gold gun. It’s not as hefty as the WizarSwordGun, but is an alright size. The chrome lion on the sides is just gorgeous. On top is a big mirror, which is kinda neat. When you insert the Hyper Ring, a red LED inside the mirror goes off to reveal a sculpted lion hiding in the mirror. It’s a really cool effect! The gun cycles through 3 sounds, and then has the Magnum Strike attack sound. The gun even says “Mirage Magnum!” in a cool voice when you turn it on. It does NOT have a ring reader in it, the Hyper Ring simply hits a single button on the inside of the slot, so no matter what you use to hit the button, you will get “Hyper!” for the Magnum Strike. Overall, for the price, it isn’t a bad toy overall. If you’re a fan of Beast, then by all means, it’s a pretty nice pick up that includes a pretty neat Wizard Ring and some really cool sounds. If you’re not a fan, it’s an easy pass (just get the Ring from a Candy Toy or Capsule set). The lion in the mirror really does it for me, and I can’t help but love it, despite being initially disappointed by the lack of ring reader.
