Review: S.H.Figuarts – Space Sheriff Gavan

S.H.FIguarts – Space Sheriff Gavan
Tamashii Web Exclusive – April, 2013 – ¥4,200

After seeing time back in the limelight thanks to Gokaiger vs. Gavan, Toei decided to attempt to revive the Space Sheriff franchise by creating a new Space Sheriff Gavan film featuring the original Gavan, as well as an all new Gavan to be his sucessor. While the movie ultimately bombed compared to most Toku films, it gave the Space Sheriffs enough pull to be in the next Super Hero Taisen…and get S.H.Figuarts! Gavan was released in April, 2013 through Tamashii Web for ¥4,200. I can tell you right now that he isn’t worth the hefty price tag. Despite being all chromed out to look like metal, he’s incredibly lightweight. While my figure doesn’t have too much in terms of loose joints, they’re still not as tight as they should be. Not to mention my chrome was chipping right out of the box. Great sculpt, but chrome seriously wasn’t the way to go on these things. Included is an additional head to show off his light up visor, a laser blade, a laser blade effect part, and six additional hands. While a good sculpt with alright joints, I just can’t recommend a ¥5,000 figure of this quality. I really wish they would have went with paint instead of chrome. I hate chrome. If you’re a huge Gavan fan, go for it, but other wise save your cash.
