Review: Super Sentai Zyudenchi Set 01 with Abaranger & Zyuranger Zyudenchi (Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger)
Super Sentai Zyudenchi Set 01
Retail Release – June, 2013 – ¥900
In Kamen Rider, every year we get “Rider” versions of the gimmick. Rider Memories, Rider Medals, Rider Switches, Rider Rings…the sickness has spread into Super Sentai with the creation of the Super Sentai Zyudenchi. The first set released at retail includes three Super Sentai Zyudenchi: Go-Busters, Gokaiger, and Goseiger. Each Zyudenchi is gold in color with the Super Sentai “V” where the number would normally be. On the inside you have the Red Ranger for that season (as of right now, all Super Sentai Zyudenchi feature the Red Ranger), as well as a design on the background with their name spelt out in English. On the other side, you have a red glow in the dark version of the Red Ranger, along with glow in the dark letters in the back. It looks pretty awesome. The yellow section of the Zyudenchi features the season logo, with the name of the group spelt out in the back. Each Zyudenchi says “SUPER SENTAI!” in the Gaburevolver, which is a huge shame. However, the Zyudenchi activate their full team name when used in Kyoryuzin, with “SUPER SENTAI!” as the Vamola attack sound. The playability of these is a shame, as they have individual pins (for use in Kyoryuzin), so the phrases COULD have been added to the Gaburevolver, but weren’t (probably due to size or cost). If you like collecting these, it’s a fun thing to get, but if you’re looking for something to unlock new sounds, you’re best off just getting your favorite series and calling it a day. There will be more Super Sentai Zyudenchi Sets in the future, plus Super Sentai Zyudenchi can be found in the Capsule (like Abaranger here), Candy Toy (like Zyuranger here), or other methods (like the Bandage sets, or magazines), so I get the feeling we’ll see all 37 teams before the line is over.
