Review: Zandar Thunder (Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger)
Retail Release – May, 2013 – ¥3,800
Just as the Kyoryuger have the Gaburicalibur, Kyoryu Gold arrives on the scene with his sword weapon, the Zandar Thunder. The Zandar Thunder was released in May, 2013 along side the other Kyoryu Gold merchandise for ¥3,800. The Zandar Thunder is a large katana like weapon shaped like the pteranodon head just like the Gaburi Changer. The sword is mostly blue and silver in color with decorative electrical sparks all along the beak with “ZANDAR THUNDER” written on the side in case you forget what it’s called. Opening the mouth leads to three Zyudenchi ports. Inserting one will create a “Zan!” sound in two different tones. Inserting two will create the “Zandar!” sound with a stronger attack. Finally inserting three will create a standby jingle, with “Zandar Thunder!” and a huge attack sound. There is also a feature where you use the hilt of the Zandar Thunder to hit a button on the Gaburi Changer to create an electrical charge. Included is the #23 Futabain Zyudenchi, which creates new sounds in the Gaburevolver and Kyoryuzin. Any Zyudenchi can be used in the Zandar Thunder, as it has no Zyudenchi reader inside. While it definitely has more playability than the Gaburicalibur (at least on its own, the Gaburicalibur has the bonus of combining with the Gaburevolver) it still isn’t particularly worth the full price. Still cool none the less, just not $40 cool.
