Tins are nothing new to the Pokémon TCG. We get a new batch of tins every 3-4 months or so, featuring whatever big Pokémon are around at the time. The latest batch of tins brings us the two “Legends of Hoenn Tins” featuring Kyogre EX and Groudon EX. Tins are usually released in sets of three, but given there is no Rayquaza EX until the next set, a tin featuring him might release once that set is out. Tins usually retail for around $19.99 at most retailers. Each tin features four booster packs, an online code card, and the promo EX.

In a strange move (perhaps to boost sales) the online code card in this tin doesn’t give you just the promo card. Instead, it gives you a full 60 Card Deck featuring said promo card. Neither of the two decks really give you a whole lot of anything worthwhile. Some of the trainers are pretty good, but most active TCGO players will have plenty of these already. Regardless, it is a step in the right direction for these sorts of things. 60 cards are certainly better than one card. Each tin comes with two Primal Clash, one Phantom Forces, and one Furious Fists booster pack.

Overall, the tins are only semi worth it. If you collect the XY promo cards, then these are must haves for the Kyogre and Groudon EX promo cards. If you don’t, there are better ways to pick up four packs. The 60 card decks are a step in the right direction, but still not enough to warrant the purchase over buying a box or something like that.
