Gaming has always been a core element of the Nerd Block Classic, but the company has hence decided to split the world of gamin into a new product: Arcade Block. For the same $19.99 plus shipping as Nerd Block Classic, you get a t-shirt and a boxful of goodies all related to your favorite gaming franchises. What you get inside is random every month, so you never know what franchises or items the Block Crew will touch upon next. For those of you not quite into gaming, you can check out Nerd Block Classic (pop culture/comic based), Horror Block (horror based), or the Nerd Block Jr. (kid franchises) varieties as well. There’s a Block for everyone! Click on the link below to subscribe.

Contents of April 2015’s block, as well as my unboxing video are after the jump.

• Kingdom Hearts T-Shirt
• Pac-Man Salt & Pepper Shakers
• Skylanders Figure (Whirlwind)
• Video Games Live: Level 4 Arcade Block Exclusive
• Treasure Chest Zipper Pull
• Retro Magazine

I never got around to unboxing the March, 2015 Arcade Block, but it was a pretty decent block. This month’s is sort of middle-ground for me. I’m a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts, so the shirt is pretty cool. Simple, but cool. The Pac-Man salt and pepper shakers are honestly sort of poorly made, but I can’t help but like the concept. I want a Pac-Man napkin holder now. After a listen, the Video Games Live CD is really great. I wish there were more tracks I were super familiar with, but the ones I do know are beautifully done. The zipper pull is another simple thing, that already found a home on my zip-up jacket. I haven’t had a chance to look at the magazine, but it’s a neat idea I suppose. I just don’t want it to become a common thing. The Skylanders figure…man. I loved Skylanders, and I still really dig it even though I don’t buy them anymore. I just can’t see the excitement behind this. Fans of Skylanders more than likely bought everything from THE FIRST GAME, or just don’t care about the older product. Buyers without the game can’t use the figure. Buyers without the game probably don’t flat out care. I know it was probably product given to them by Activision because no store wants that crap anymore, but it’s still a pretty silly thing to include. Oh well.

As always, these aren’t for everyone, but if you’re willing to dish out about $30 a month for a surprise box filled with a bunch of neat (and possibly exclusive!) items, then this is a great thing to do. If you’re a horror fan, comic fan or have children you want to share the experience with, be sure to check out the Horror Block, Nerd Block Classic, and Nerd Block Jr. subscriptions as well. These things are really fun to me, and I look forward to next month’s Block.

Thanks Arcade Block!
