Happy Pokémon Day! To celebrate the Virtual Console releases of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, as well as celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Pokémon today, Nintendo has released an exclusive New Nintendo 3DS featuring Charizard and Blastoise themed cover plates exclusive to the set. Also included with the set is a download code that unlocks exclusive Red and Blue themed Home Screen Themes. Of course, both Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue come preinstalled with the system, ready to play right out of the box. The cover plates are wonderfully done, capturing the old style of Sugimori’s Charizard and Blastoise designs, right off of the Red and Blue boxes. Both have a nice matte finish that complements the actual feel of the system. Keep in mind that this system is the normal New 3DS, and not a 3DS XL system. At $199.99, the fact that you’re getting the system, two exclusive themes, two exclusive cover plates, and of course the collectibility of it all. If you’re a hardcore retro Pokémon fan, or just really excited about the 20th Anniversary, this is a must have for the collection. Additionally, if you’re on the market for Red and Blue, and haven’t upgraded to a New Nintendo 3DS yet, you might as well go for it!
